FAQ

Q: How do I register on and use the Outdoor Community?

A: Please visit the How to Use the Outdoor Community page.

Q: What is 'DESTINATION GEAR'?

A: How many times have you traveled and wished you had some of our own sports equipment with you?  Often items like kayaks, bikes, and surf boards to name a few are too big to put on a plane or strap to your car when you travel.  Once you get to where you are going, you can't find any place that rents gear.  If you can find any at all, it is usually cheap recreational gear that is not well maintained.

Our hope is that people will use our site to post gear available for rent so others can enjoy the outdoors when away from home.  We obviously encourage commercial outfitters to list their gear for rent, but also it is an opportunity for private owners to make some money off their equipment when not using it by renting it out.  If you have more than one bike, kayak, etc that you own, maybe you can offer to go out into the outdoors with someone who does not know the area.  A great way to meet new friends!

Q: How should you list on DESTINATION GEAR?

A: The more detailed your listing is, the more likely people will rent from you.  Include a picture, an accurate description of the item, as well as what kind of shape it is in.  When listing the price, specify whether it is per hour, per day, per week, etc.  Make sure to include your email or phone number so people can get in contact with you, as well as your address where the item is to be picked up (or you can deliver it if you wish to offer that).

If you have more than one item, lets say you are renting out 3 different bikes, you will have better luck renting by making a separate listing for each rather than creating a generic one.

Q: How can you search the listings on DESTINATION GEAR?

A: The best way is to use the advanced search function which allows you to search by any one of the fields including category of listing, private or commercial,  state, and even city.

Q: What are your water bottles made of?

A: Planet Zero Gravity water bottles are made from 18/8 food grade stainless steel. This means they require no liner like an aluminum bottle does and will not leach. The cap is made from a BPA-Free plastic. Stainless steel can be recycled.

Q: Where are they manufactured?

A: They are made responsibly in China. We spent a lot of time finding a company which produced not only a great product, but also is reliable and has high business standards.

Q: How do you clean the water bottles?

A: Dish detergent and water work fine, or you can also use baking soda and vinegar. The wide mouth bottle makes it easy to get inside.

Q: What kinds of liquids can be stored in your bottles?

A: Just about anything. Water obviously, juices, shakes, even alcohol. However, since some our older bottles are single walled and metal conducts heat, DO NOT USE OUR SINGLE-WALLED BOTTLES TO STORE HOT LIQUIDS.

Q: What are the differences between your stainless steel water bottles and some of the other aluminum ones on the market?

A: Aluminum is lighter than stainless steel, but is harmful to humans. That is why aluminum bottles need a coating or liner to protect the liquid inside. This coating can potentially crack or leach, especially if the bottle is damaged.

Q: Do you accept returns?

A: Yes we do accept returns.  All items must returned within 14 days of purchase and be in saleable condition.  All tags must also be returned if included with shipment.  The buyer is responsible for the return shipping fee to Planet Zero Gravity in CT.

Q: Do you ship outside the U.S.?

A: Yes, we can ship to most countries.  For single bottle orders, we will ship via USPS.  For larger purchases, we will determine the best carrier and buyer is responsible for the shipping fees.  Buyer will also be responsible for any import taxes when the item arrives in your country.
